Earlier in the week, P&G commenced the Fashion Week festivities in celebration of JONES magazine’s first fall fashion issue and proudly hosted the first-ever JONES Awards, presented by My Black is Beautiful. JONES magazine is a unique, nationally-distributed, fashion, beauty, lifestyle and shopping glossy targeting Black women and women of color – and the JONES Awards honored individuals who promote diversity and equal opportunity within the fashion and beauty industries. The roster of honors include The JONES Model Award endowed on Supermodel and Jones Fall Issue cover girl, Sessilee Lopez; The JONES Designer Award bestowed on the incomparable Byron Lars; and The JONES Beauty Award received by Celebrity makeup Artist Sam Fine.

By creating a platform to endow recognition on these unsung individuals JONES magazine has taken on the cause of promoting diversity in high-fashion. “We are thrilled to have P&G’s My Black is Beautiful as a sponsor”, said Publisher, L. Londell McMillan. “We created JONES magazine to address a void in the fashion marketplace and provide a forum for African American professionals throughout the industry to be showcased.”
