(BPRW) African Pride Launches "My Pride. My Way." Glam Squad Weekend Contest: A Celebration of Individual Style, Innovation and Beauty

- "When it Comes to Hair, We Write Our Own Rules." -

(BLACK PR WIRE) – Savannah, GA (March 17th, 2011) – African Pride announces today the launch of the “My Pride. My Way.” glam squad weekend contest. Supported by engagement marketing and social media initiatives, “My Pride. My Way.” celebrates the fact that hair is an expression of individual style.

Beauty mavens are invited to join the brand’s Facebook page to take part in the “My Pride. My Way.” experience. Beginning the week of March 14th, by uploading pictures of two totally different hairstyles they’ve rocked over the years, women will vie for a head-to-toe glam squad makeover, an intimate dinner with a surprise male celebrity and a year’s supply of African Pride’s Olive Miracle collection. The deadline for submitting entries is April 24th, 2011. Winners of the “My Pride. My Way.” glam squad contest will be announced the week of May 2nd, 2011.

African Pride’s “My Pride. My Way.” celebrity glam squad includes: photographer, Reggie Anderson; fashion stylist, Tameka Raymond; makeup artist, Christian Balenciaga; and hair stylist, Gail Hudson.

“Whether it’s Rihanna’s spicy red mane, Halle Berry’s pixie or Chrisette Michele’s platinum crop – women of color are making bold statements with their hair and the world is watching,” says Charlene Bastien, National Marketing and Sales Director, Strength of Nature Global, LLC.

On Wednesday, March 16th, African Pride kicked off the “My Pride. My Way.” campaign in style with a star-studded soiree at Atlanta’s historic King Plow Event Gallery hosted by Toccarra Jones and Lance Gross. Guests were given an opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with African Pride’s Olive Miracle collection at branded style stations while enjoying a special performance by So So Def’s Dondria.

Relaxed, natural, textured, or colored, hair can be beautiful in many ways. “My Pride. My Way.” was developed to truly engage women in positive dialogue surrounding diversity and hair in the African American community.
