(BPRW) Herbert Greene, M.D., Named Chair of Baptist Health Medical Group Board of Directors

(BLACK PR WIRE) "" Herbert Greene, M.D., a retired emergency physician, has been named Chair of the Board of Directors of Baptist Health Medical Group. The organization has more than 120 physicians in multiple specialties aligned with Baptist Health. All Baptist Health Board members are volunteers who serve without compensation. Dr. Greene also serves on the Baptist Health Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors of Homestead Hospital. In 2009, Dr. Greene was honored by the American Medical Association for his 50-year anniversary of graduation from medical school. A graduate of Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., Dr. Greene completed his internship at D.C. General Hospital in Washington, D.C., and his residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, Michigan. He was a pioneer in the developing field of emergency medicine at Baptist Hospital, practicing for more than 28 years and retiring in 1998. He was the former assistant medical director of the Department of Emergency Services at Baptist Hospital, and served on numerous hospital committees. He also served as a lieutenant in the Medical Corps, U.S. Navy Reserves. In recent years, Dr. Greene has received numerous awards, including the Black Achiever award by the Family Christian Association of America and the Positive Aging Award from the Alliance for Aging, Inc. He is a charter member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a life member of the Dade County Medical Association. He also is the founding president of the Dade County Chapter of the National Medical Association, where he is still a member. Baptist Health Medical Group is part of Baptist Health South Florida, the largest faith-based, not-for-profit healthcare organization in the region.
