(BPRW) JESSIE TRICE COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER WELCOMES KAISER FAMILY FOUNDATION AND NATIONAL JOURNALISTS TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE

- Group to Discuss the Affordable Care Act -

(BLACK PR WIRE) – The Jessie Trice Community Health Center (JTCHC) will host a meaningful and enlightening health discussion with representatives from the Kaiser Family Foundation, and journalists from across the country. This group discussion, set for Wednesday, November 20, 2013 begins at 2:15 p.m. at the Center’s corporate office, 5607 NW 27th Avenue in Miami. The site visit is being organized by the Kaiser Family Foundation and for a group of some 20-25 health policy journalists. The journalists are visiting Miami as part of a four-day program on the State’s implementation of The Affordable Care Act. The visit is part of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation’s Media Fellowships program.

“These are exciting times and we are looking forward to sharing our Center and our experience so far with the roll out of the Affordable Care Act,” shared Annie R. Neasman, RN, MS, President and CEO of the Jessie Trice Community Health Center. “Given the very important role community health centers play now in the rollout of the Affordable Care Act, we are delighted to have the Jessie Trice Community Health Center tapped to share its perspective on all the changes underway, and to provide a sense of the community it serves.”

This is the fourth in a series of journalism site visits looking in detail at the way different states are implementing The Affordable Care Act. The aim is to provide a group of invited journalists with an in-depth grasp of the different approaches, perspectives and challenges in each state, to help their reporting on these issues.

The Kaiser Family Foundation has invited a mix of national reporters from news organizations across Florida to participate. The Kaiser Family Foundation’s program in Miami will focus on health policy issues in the State, including enrollment in the Exchange and Medicaid, the ongoing challenges of providing care to the uninsured, access to care and the supply of medical providers, cost containment, and improving quality of care.

During the site visit, JTCHC will provide a brief overview of the patients and communities it serves; and share how that may change as the Affordable Care Act rolls out. The Center will also provide a snapshot of demographics, the key health/medical challenges, cultural and linguistic needs; and the current insurance status of patients and their families now, and going forward. Additionally, JTCHC will point out how the Jesse Trice Health Centers are distinct from other clinics in the Miami area.

The Jessie Trice Community Health Center, Inc. is a Florida 501 (c) 3, not-for-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center, which has been serving Miami-Dade County since 1967.
