(BPRW) Miami-Broward Junior Carnival a Success!

(BLACK PR WIRE) – The word “Carnival” ignites thoughts of festivals … celebrations … street parties. Well, this year’s Miami-Broward Junior Carnival did not disappoint. It offered all of this and more!

Traditional Carnival, as typically celebrated in Trinidad and Brazil, is a festive season which occurs immediately before Lent, usually in February or March. Here in South Florida, Miami-Broward One Carnival (MBOC) celebrations begin the week before Columbus Day in October. It kicks off with the MBOC Junior Carnival on the Sunday before Carnival Sunday, followed by the Kings, Queens and Individuals Show and Competition and the Steelband Panorama competition on Friday of Columbus Day weekend. The official MBOC J’Ouvert – a large street party – is held on Saturday morning of Columbus Day weekend. The Carnival celebrations peak with the parade and concert on Carnival Sunday, the day before the second Monday of October.

“The Miami-Broward Junior Carnival was a big success,” said Ricardo Reyes, photographer and Trinidad native. “It’s a great family festival that shares our Caribbean culture and fosters community pride. I look forward to seeing the smiles on the faces of kids every year and I am glad to contribute my photography skills.”

The Miami-Broward One Carnival Host Committee is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing a safe, family festival to South Florida and outlying areas, fostering community pride and civic involvement, and providing critical opportunities to the Caribbean people in South Florida to share the Caribbean culture, promote cultural exchange and build economic cooperation in the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment of South Florida.
