(BLACK PR WIRE) -- St. Louis, MO (January 12, 2015,) Senior Bishops of the three historical Black Methodist denominations: Methodist Episcopal Church (AME), African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (AMEZ), and the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (CME) - will travel to Normandy High School to announce the establishment of several full tuition scholarships to Historically Black Colleges and Universities that are traditionally affiliated with these denominations.

Today, at a special surprise assembly for the students at Normandy High school, the same school the late Michael Brown, Jr. attended, the announcement of the ‘Michael Brown Change Foundation’ scholarship endowment fund will be made.

WHO: Dr. Jamal-Harrison Bryant, President of the Empowerment Movement, who spent several months in Ferguson leading peaceful marches, town hall meetings, and even arrested, has partnered with the parents of Michael Brown, Jr. and bishops from African American Melodist Denominations: African Methodist Episcopal (AME), Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME), and African Methodist Episcopal Zion (AME Zion) to create scholarships for the underprivileged in Ferguson. The partnership brings together a combined membership base of 5.2 million people across the county.

WHAT: Six full tuition scholarships to: Fort Valley State University (Fort Valley, GA); Lane College (Jackson, TN); Miles College (Fairfield, AL); Texas College (Tyler, TX); Edward Waters College (Jacksonville, FL) and Oakwood College (Huntsville, AL). The scholarships will be awarded, in honor of Michael Brown, Jr. to 2015 graduates of Normandy who meet criterion set forth by the respective institutions.

WHY: Rev. Dr. Jamal Bryant, the President of the Empowerment Movement, before he gave the eulogy at Michael Brown, Jr.’s funeral vowed “not to forget the Michael Brown’s of the world.” His organization will continue support and address issues pertaining to civic and social disparities in America.
