(BPRW) EXPANDED SERVICES TO PROVIDE PRIMARY CARE SERVICES TO UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS

(Black PR Wire)  Miami, Florida - Care 4 U Community Health Center (C4UCHC) is proud to announce the opening of a new 5,000 sq. ft. facility in Liberty City, Florida to meet the needs of Miami-Dade County’s most vulnerable populations. Care 4 U opened its doors on September 4, 2018 and is located at 4690 NW 7th Avenue, Miami, Florida.

“We expanded our community health center to provide an additional option for primary care and sexually transmitted infection services to meet the health care needs of the underserved,” says Donald Henderson, Founder, and CEO. C4UCHC’s mission is “to provide quality primary health care that is accessible to any patient in need in the communities we serve, regardless of their ability to pay,” said Mr. Henderson. A non-profit community health center, C4UCHC was founded in 2014 to provide care to individuals living with HIV/AIDS and was expanded in 2018 to provide primary care services to all patients regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status.

Since September 2018, C4UCHC has prescribed Pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) to 155 individuals, 30% are black men, 55% black women, 7% Hispanic men and 6% Hispanic women. Ninety-seven (97%) of persons receiving PrEP at Care 4 U are heterosexuals. In addition, the Center has treated 18 new syphilis patients and identified 6 new HIV infections. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in 48 black women are projected to have an HIV diagnosis in their lifetime. “As the country struggles to get black women on PrEP to prevent new HIV infections, our health center has been able to reach black women with our PrEP message,” says Vanessa Mills, MPH, BSN, LPN, and Chief Operations Officer. “C4UCHC is strengthening our community by closing the primary care and treatment gaps. We could do much more to help our community to become healthier if we had additional resources to offset some of the laboratory costs,” says Ms. Mills.

“We are excited to be part of the Liberty City community and look forward to serving its residents,” said Henderson. “We have committed, exceptional, local doctors and specialists to meet the health care needs of our citizens and create a healthier, brighter future for residents of Miami-Dade County.”
