Team connected and pledged to #MakeHealthyHappenMiami
(Black PR Wire) In a continuous effort to increase awareness of the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade and promote healthy initiatives, the Consortium’s Marketing and Membership Committee recently hosted its first Membership Mixer.
“We were thrilled to meet and mingle with so many community leaders who are a part of this important community initiative,” says Franz Theodore, Chair of the Marketing and Membership Committee. “We plan to use these type of events and activities as a platform to promote the Consortium and its initiatives.”
Fit for the season, the mixer, entitled Sizzling Summer Social, allowed members of the Consortium’s seven committees and newcomers to meet, network and connect, as well as learn more about each committee. Attendees also experienced first-hand a delicious and healthy meal from a participating restaurant of the Consortium’s Healthy Happens Here initiative.
The Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade was established in 2003 by the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County to address the increasing rate of chronic disease in the community. The goals of the Consortium are to: Integrate planning and assessment processes to maximize partnerships and expertise of the community in accomplishing its goals; increase the percentage of adults and children who are at a healthy weight; build and revitalize communities so people can live healthy lives and; increase access to resources that promote healthy behaviors. Membership is free and open to all individuals who support the vision, mission and goals of the Consortium. To become a member and learn more, visit www.healthymiamidade.org.
