(BPRW) The People Institute and its partners to hold a virtual Town Hall on Racial Awareness & Cultural Equity

Set for Friday, August 21st 9:30 am – 11:30 am

(Black PR Wire) The Institute for Peopl and their partners will hold a virtual conference, entitled Racial Awareness and Culture Equity (R.A.C.E) Town Hall on Friday, August 21, 2020.   This is the first in a series to be held the third Friday of each month.  Recent, deeply tragic events have renewed the national spotlight on businesses and community organizations and its leadership who have been moved to confront racism, injustice and inequality in the workplace and in our communities.

The August 21st  Opening Session will be led by Chevara Orrin, an award-winning diversity, equity, and social justice activist. The legacy of her parents deeply inspires Chevara. Her mother served as the lead coordinator for the 1967 March on the Pentagon in opposition to the Vietnam War, and her father was a top lieutenant for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.   Ms. Orrin is working on racial equity solutions with Fortune 500 companies such as Facebook, United Health, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, and Kaiser Permanente. Ms. Orrin will start the town hall by breaking down the history of systematic racism. We will then break out into small groups where the moderators will lead a discussion on how the business and community can close the opportunity gap to create more inclusive cultures.
