(BPRW) 2011 Black History HBCU Calendar Captures Journey of African-Americans and Historically Black Colleges and Universities

Portion of proceeds to benefit calendar's featured colleges

(BLACK PR WIRE) The just-released 2011 Black History HBCU Calendar, published by the Black History Educational Network captures Black History in the making. It highlights figures such as Michael Jackson, Coach Eddie Robinson, McDonalds’s President and CEO Don Thompson, and Baseball Hall of Famer Leon Day.

This fifth edition 2011 calendar features the 12 HBCU institutions established between 1865 and 1947, and chronicles the journey through African American history by highlighting dates relevant to African American culture.

Recognizing the financial struggles regularly faced by HBCUs, partial proceeds of the calendar sales will be donated to each of the 12 featured HBCUs.

“The keepsake calendar serves to support efforts in two areas,” according to calendar creator Tracey Alston. “To raise funds and awareness for HBCU institutions and to document the achievements of outstanding African Americans.”

The Historically Black Colleges and Universities featured in the 2011 Calendar are Bishop State Community College, Bowie State University, Coahoma Community College, Concordia College, Gadsden State Community College, Jarvis Christian College, Norfolk State University, Shaw university, Tennessee State University, Texas Southern University, Trenholm State Technical College, Xavier University of Louisiana.

The 2011 Black History HBCU Calendar retails for $5.99 at Walgreen stores throughout the country and also available at: http://www.blackhistoryhbcucalendar.com.

Group quantities of the calendar for resell or distribution to schools and organizations, as learning tools or as fundraising opportunities, may be ordered by calling (312) 532-0585.
