(BPRW) New Lil Wayne Hit Video "How to Love" Breaks New Ground With Motivational Message For Women!

"" Mini-movie sends encouraging message to women who have suffered abuse ""

(BLACK PR WIRE) – LOS ANGELES – (AUGUST 30, 2011) – Lead actress, Chanta Patton, provides behind the scenes thoughts on the mega hit mini-movie How to Love by Lil Wayne. Displaying a more sensitive side of Lil Wayne, the How to Love video stunned viewers, creating an avalanche of positive viral commentary. The video tells the story of a young girl who watches her mother suffer within a physically abusive relationship. Then as a preteen, she is molested by one of her mother's lovers. The young lady grows up to become a stripper and eventually a prostitute who contracts HIV. The video then rewinds to show an alternative path that shows the young girl growing up with both parents, finishing school, falling in love and creating a family of her own.

Ms. Patton, states: “If you were raised in a single parent household or exposed to any ‘adult’ issues at an early age, you can’t help but to become filled with emotion when watching this video. How to Love encourages women, especially mothers who’ve suffered from abuse, to recognize their trauma, know that it’s not their fault and make hard choices necessary for a better life.”

Directed by Chris Robinson, How to Love stands in stark contrast to Lil Wayne’s previous music videos, which normally depict light subject matter such as partying and women. Chris Robinson is one of the most sought after directors in the industry and he’s most noted for his engaging narratives such as the movie ATL and music videos for artists such as Alicia Keyes and Jay-Z.

How to Love is the first single of Lil Wayne’s highly anticipated album, The Carter IV, which debuted yesterday. People are drawing a parallel between hip-hop’s most idealized rapper, Tupac Shakur, and Lil Wayne. Patton notes: “How to Love is reminiscent of Tupac’s Brenda’s Got a Baby and Dear Momma, two narratives with a deep message. As an African-American woman, I really appreciate these artists for putting such a powerful, ‘pro-female’ message in their lyrics.”

With an applied mathematics degree, Chanta Patton, 24, is not a typical “video girl.” She provides math tutoring and mentors middle and high school students within urban Los Angeles. With plans for entering UCLA’s business school, Chanta works as a fulltime SAG (Screen Actor’s Guild) actress and appears in the upcoming sci-fi thriller, In Time, with Justin Timberlake. She has starred in numerous commercials for brands such as Nike, Foot Locker and Pepsi Max. Patton recently shared, “I have experienced, first-hand, the challenges young women face in society from having grown up in a single parent household in rural North Carolina, to now living my dream amongst the bright lights of Hollywood. I ‘over-stand’ the obstacles.”
