(BPRW) Health and Fitness on the Go

(BLACK PR WIRE/FAMU-TALLAHASSEE) – Health and fitness mobile applications are a trend that is quickly growing as technology progresses.

In today’s society, major companies have caught on to the trend of creating mobile apps for their consumers to use on the go.

Emmanuela BienAime, a second-year history education student at Florida A&M University, said she is very familiar to health and fitness mobile apps. She has considered using several apps in the past to track her daily calories.

“I started tracking my calories with an app called MyFitnessPal. I started using it at the end of August 2011 as a way to loose some weight,” said BienAime.

MyFitnessPal is a free mobile app that is available on the Android Market. According to Myfitnesspal.com, “We believe — and medical studies prove — that the best way to lose weight and keep it off forever is to simply keep track of the foods you eat.”

BienAime said, “With this app, it makes me more aware of what I am eating and makes me feel guilty about eating foods that will take up my daily calorie intake.”

Jakira Moore, a second-year biology student at FAMU, said she finds the Nike+ app very convenient.
Nike+ is an app that measures and records how far a user walks or runs. Apple has it available on iTunes for $1.99 to help motivate users to walk or run in order to stay fit.

“I have been using this app every year after Thanksgiving since 2010 to loose extra weight in time for spring break. It lets me know how far I run on treadmills and how much walking I may do while on campus,” said Moore.

Health and fitness app users are able to get the motivation and guidance they need in order to live and maintain a healthier lifestyle. With these mobile apps they can take health and fitness pointers wherever they go.
