(Black PR Wire) Due to unprecedented demand a volume of consumers visiting HealthCare.gov and contacting the Health Insurance Marketplace call centers, the deadline to sign up for January 1 health coverage has been extended until 11:59 p.m. PST on December 17.

Many have already selected plans and approximately one million consumers have left contact information to hold a place in line to enroll. The deadline extension will give consumers an opportunity to complete their enrollment for January 1 coverage.
