(BPRW) Motherhood Gets Real ASPiRE Presents A Comedic and Uncensored Perspective On Family And Motherhood With The Premiere Of "Mommy Uncensored"

A Special TV Presentation Based on the Popular Web Series Premieres on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8 at 8 p.m. EDT

(Black PR Wire) ATLANTA – April 22, 2016 –Mothers everywhere – this one is especially for you! The award-winning hit web comedy series “Mommy Uncensored”comes to television in a new, original special presentation. “Mommy Uncensored,” a hilarious and real series that gives a unique perspective on family and motherhood from a relatable and unique stay-at-home mom, will premiere on Mother’s Day at 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, exclusively on ASPiRE.

Shot in Atlanta, “Mommy Uncensored” stars and is created and executive produced by Charity Jordan (Selma). Jordan’s husband Justin Jordan is co-creator and editor. The series also stars Rod “Reemo” Thomas (Drumline, “Stomp the Yard”), actress and blues vocalist Theresa Hightower and the Jordan’s real-life children. Director is actress and producer Terri J. Vaughn (“The Steve Harvey Show,” Girlfriend’s Getaway), who makes her series directorial debut.

Birthed from real life mommy experiences, “Mommy Uncensored” chronicles Karen Wright’s (Charity Jordan) unpredictable and unorthodox journey as a former career woman to stay-at-home mom. The series intimately captures Karen’s everyday situations as she tries to balancebeing a mother to two charismatic little girls, all while trying to keep the spice in her marriage. Herfun, loving, and oftentimes romantic husband Neil (Rod Thomas), who is equally devoted to their children, supports his wife’s new role and contributes, as best he can, to all of the parenting responsibilities. Karen’s mother Momma Dukes (Theresa Hightower), who is very traditional and a bit of a worry wart, adds humor to the family dynamics. Hilarity ensues as Karen shares her inner feelings and insecurities confessional-style in the one place she can find refuge, or so she thinks, in her bathroom. Everything from sex, to mommy time, to super mom undertakings are explored in the special television presentation.

“ASPiRE is the network committed to delivering content with authentic portrayals of the Black and urban experience that is always entertaining. ‘Mommy Uncensored’ does just that and more,” said Melissa Ingram, vice president, channel operations and business affairs, ASPiRE. ”We’re delighted to bring this super funny, witty and extremely relatable show to ASPiRE. We promise that viewers will laugh-out-loud as they experience family and parenting like never before - from the vantage point of a loving, fun and young urban family.”

“Parenting is a huge endeavor and that changes your entire life,” said Jordan. “When I became a mother I felt alone in my journey and looked around for support. It became clear to me that there was little that focused on motherhood from a mother’s point of view and even less that featured an African-American family. ‘Mommy Uncensored’ was born because I wanted to give parents an outlet to be empowered through laughter by watching a realistic perspective of parenting. ‘Mommy Uncensored’ is funny, real, and provides an outlet for every mom and dad who has felt the pressure of cashing in their cool points for onesies. We take pride in creating a show that the whole family can enjoy and are extremely pleased that ASPiRE is bringing our labor of love to a broader audience.”

“I love comedy and having the opportunity to direct a comedic female lead in a half-hour comedy show is my dream job,” said Vaughn. “The series is relevant to every member of the family, especially mothers. We can relate to Karen, the super mom, who gets the job done in her own whacky way. It is thought-provoking, fresh and so funny!”

“Mommy Uncensored: Confessions of a Real Life Mom” was launched as a web series in 2012. “Mommy Uncensored” was awarded Best Web series by the Hollywood Black Film Festival and the BronzeLens Festival in 2013.

ASPiRE presents an ArtistDirector Media production. Created by Charity Jordan and Justin Jordan. Executive produced by Charity Jordan. Directed by Terri J. Vaugh. Edited by Justin Jordan.
