(BPRW) Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta launches TogetherATL grantmaking with $645,000 to six organizations

Grantees’ work focuses on addressing disparities in housing and neighborhoods, income and wealth and power and leadership

(Black PR Wire) ATLANTA – The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta announces its first round of grantmaking under TogetherATL, the organization’s five-year strategic plan that centers equity and shared prosperity for all residents of the metro Atlanta region. Six organizations focused on systems change – a key focus of TogetherATL – will receive grants totaling $645,000. Systems change involves transforming the institutions that underpin the arts, civic engagement, housing and income and wealth gaps.

“In order to create equitable communities, we must first acknowledge the historic, systemic disinvestment of communities inhabited primarily by people of color,” said the Foundation’s Vice President of Community Impact Ayana Gabriel. “Our TogetherATL strategy, in general, and these grants that focus on income and wealth, specifically, are an important first step in our commitment to investing in BIPOC communities and working to ensure everyone who calls our region home has access to opportunity and prosperity.”

Grants awarded for Housing and Neighborhoods include:

Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance: $30,000 to support the Southern Cities Initiative Cohort

Neighborhood Nexus: $200,000 to support development of a set of community indicators aligned to the TogetherATL Strategy

Grants awarded for Income and Wealth include:

Atlanta Civic Circle: $50,000 for general operating support

Canopy Atlanta, Inc.: $50,000 for general operating support

The Georgia Resilience and Opportunity (GRO) Fund: $300,000 to support the In Her Hands program in College Park

A grant for Power and Leadership:

NAACP Atlanta Branch: $15,000 to support voter mobilization throughout fifty counties in Georgia
