(Black PR Wire) NEW YORK – Carlos Clanton, National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP) president provides words of encouragement for young professionals who may be living with intense uncertainty in the current political climate. In a recent blog post, he answered the question “what now?” Clanton draws upon the strength of leaders from previous eras and provides insights for action steps Millennials and Generation Z can take now to move forward.
“We have always been a people who are resilient, and we will survive. Survival in this era will entail applying lessons demonstrated by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Whitney M. Young. These leaders achieved great accomplishments because they worked together,” said Clanton. “Young professionals now can do the same. We have garnered the attention of the nation through our actions in Ferguson and beyond….We must be diligent about knowing and sharing the facts of our Movement. We must continue to be vocal. This is not a time to be silent,” he said.
The National Urban League, rooted in social justice, has been fighting for more than 100 years to ensure equal jobs, housing, education and health for all. Through NULYP membership, active voting participation and mutual support, Clanton reminds young professionals of their power to continue to fight for equality for all.
