(BPRW) FACE Africa Hosts 10th Annual WASH Gala

Organization celebrates 10 years of impact and highlights power of diaspora philanthropy

(Black PR Wire) New York, NY – On Saturday March 23, FACE Africa will host its 10th Annual WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Gala at Guastavino’s New York. This landmark 10th anniversary event will be held to commemorate World Water Day, (March 22nd) with the goal of bringing awareness to the growing clean water epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa and raising funds for its clean water initiatives. To date, FACE Africa has impacted over 150,000 people in Liberia and Nigeria, with plans to expand to Ghana, Kenya and Mozambique.

Now in its tenth year, the WASH Gala has become one of the most anticipated Africa-focused events in New York City. The gathering is an official UN World Water Day event that brings together 400 guests from various sectors and celebrates the contributions of Africans and Africans in the diaspora. Past WASH Gala Honorees include: UN Deputy Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed; Masai Ujiri, President of the Toronto Raptors, and Restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson.

The year’s WASH Gala will honor soccer legend Didier Drogba, Actress Nomzamo Mbatha, Bozoma Saint John, CMO at Endeavor and singer, songwriter Mr Eazi, who will also perform during the event. Delivering the 2019 keynote address is Target Corp’s Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer and Vice President of Human Resources, Ms. Caroline Wanga.

"This year is an important year for us as it marks a turning point in our evolution,” says FACE Africa Founder & CEO, Saran Kaba Jones. “We’re not only celebrating ten years of impact but also trying to reshape the narrative around WASH and using our platform and collective voices to bring attention to the continent's clean water challenges." The organization has been intentional about harnessing and activating the power of the diaspora to highlight social issues on the continent.

"FACE Africa's efforts to provide clean water to children and communities in Liberia is testament to the power of diaspora philanthropy, partnerships and impact for Africa," said Semhar Araia, Managing Director of UNICEF USA's Diaspora and Multicultural Partnerships.

The Gala schedule will include a special invitation to an exclusive reception, Gala dinner with premium open bar, silent auction, award presentation, keynote address, and live entertainment; after-party hosted by recording artist Vanessa Mdee; and a post-Gala brunch powered by Afropolitain Magazine.

Sponsors include Target Corp, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, Voss Water, FTI Consulting, Greenberg Traurig, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, GLS Group, LVMH, and Sahara Jets.  Ndini will serve as the official media partner.
