Members of the “Make Healthy Happen Miami” team attended the EcoFest Festival at Broadway Place in Liberty City recently. EcoFest is a community festival that provided residents with an opportunity to celebrate sustainability and green efforts in Miami-Dade County.
During the event, the Make Healthy Happen Miami team handed out over 100 “HealthPacks” filled with educational resource information and materials on healthy eating and wellness. Insightful water bottles were also provided.
EcoFest highlighted green companies, organizations, local and national communities, and sustainability programs. The Festival provided residents with numerous giveaways, health and wellness screenings, fresh produce from a Farmer’s Market on site, and much more.
Make Healthy Happen Miami is an initiative of the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade and the Partnerships to Improve Community Health (PICH). PICH focus areas include tobacco and smoke-free environments, environments with healthy foods or beverages, physical activity opportunities, and prevention of chronic diseases through clinical and community linkages. The campaign includes the use of marketing and media strategies throughout the communities. Make Healthy Happen Miami is a message from the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, and is made possible with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
