( BPRW) MillerCoors Donates Collection of African-American Portraitures 'Counsels for the Cause'

Milwaukee Urban League Recipient of Priceless Artwork

( BLACK PR WIRE) MILWAUKEE (February 4, 2009) – An annual event that keeps growing in size and scope each year, the Milwaukee Urban League’s Equal Opportunity Day Awards Luncheon attracted more than 500 friends, and corporate and community supporters. Held at the Hyatt Regency-Milwaukee, the event recognized companies for their corporate social responsibility in the area of multi-cultural initiatives.

A highlight was the donation of priceless artwork, gifted to the league from the MillerCoors Gallery of Greats Collection. The original paintings, titled “Counsels for the Cause,” depicted portraits of 12 prominent African-American leaders in the field of law. One of the portraits is of Patricia Roberts Harris, the first U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and the first African-American female to serve as a U.S. ambassador. The paintings will grace the walls of the Milwaukee Urban League’s new board room.
Observing the portraits are (L-R) Milwaukee Urban League board member Jerry Fulmer; Milwaukee’s Gallery of Greats artist Evelyn Patricia Terry; Mellody Hobson, president of Ariel Capital Management; Larry Waters, MillerCoors senior director of Multicultural Relations; and Ralph Hollmon, CEO, Milwaukee Urban League.
