The Washington, DC Branch NAACP celebrates the 100th anniversary of the NAACP with a premier Red Carpet event featuring Emmy Award winning actress Cicely Tyson and Grammy Award winning neo soul artist India Arie.

The Washington DC NAACP Branch celebrates the 100th anniversary of the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization, as we look forward to the next 100 years. This event will feature an exclusive conversation with acclaimed Emmy Award winning actress Cicely Tyson and a performance by Grammy Award winning neo soul artist India Arie. Tyson and Arie are dynamic women who exemplify the NAACP’s intergenerational fight for social justice. The Red Carpet event will be hosted by Washington DC’s WOL-AM Radio Talk Show Host James Madison, the “Black Eagle”; and the conversation with Tyson will be moderated by civic-social activist Reverend Marcia Dyson.

In the spirit of the Centennial celebration, the DC NAACP will bestow the esteemed Centennial Award upon DC area activists who have made significant contributions to the arts, civil rights, and the advancement of our community. “We proudly celebrate our past as we step into our future with a renewed sense of hope, duty to our cause, and enthusiasm.” said President Lorraine Miller.

The Red Carpet event will be held at the historic Lincoln Theatre at 1215 U Street NW, on Thursday, October 15 from 7:00pm – 9:30pm. Tickets for Orchestra Seating ($100.00) and Upper Balcony Seating ($75.00) are available for purchase through the Lincoln Theater Box Office. This event is open to the general public.
