(BPRW)U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS TO HOST AN ECO AWARENESS AND CAREER FAIR AT PAXON MIDDLE SCHOOL - STUDENT WRITTEN EVERGLADES MUSIC VIDEO TO BE UNVEILED DURING EVENT ""

(BLACK PR WIRE) (May 10, 2010) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host an Eco Awareness and Career Fair with students at Paxon Middle School as part of Paxon’s Career Awareness Month. The event is set for Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Media Center and Gymnasium at Paxon Middle. The school is located at 3276 Norman Thagard Boulevard in Jacksonville, Fla.
“This environmental education experience will introduce eighth grade students to the many types of “green” career opportunities available,” says Nanciann Regalado, program manager for strategic communication and outreach for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District. “We will also unveil a special Everglades music video that was written and performed by some of Paxon’s enormously talented students!”
The Eco Career Fair will take place in two 90-minute groups. Approximately 205 eighth graders are expected to attend. Highlights of the event include:

• Career Booth Visits – Group discussions will be held by federal, state and local government participants such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Florida Department of Health, the Jacksonville Zoo and many others. Each governmental representative will have appropriate materials and hand out information on career opportunities within their organization. Discussions of the career fields will include explanations of how they help protect the environment.

• Motivational Speaker – A local Jacksonville radio personality will make a motivational speech to the students.

• Eco Tour Music Video – The Corps will unveil an exciting new music video written and performed by some of Paxon’s very own students. The music video was developed and created after the students were inspired by a field trip to the Everglades, supported in part by Everglades National Park.

• Surprise Unveiling – There event will include a surprise unveiling!

Paxon Middle School is charting new routes to a world class education.
