(BLACK PR WIRE) CHICAGO – Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and actress LeToya Luckett returned to her Houston hometown on Saturday, Oct. 9, as the face of Luster’s Pink Brand Smooth Touch, making a live appearance at the Smooth Touch Hair and Homecoming Mall Takeover event at the Houston Galleria. Luckett, a platinum-selling solo artist and former member of Houston’s own Destiny’s Child, made a surprise appearance on the Galleria catwalk, welcomed attendees to the event, signed autographs and posed for photos with her fans.
Last weekend’s Houston stop was the last of the multi-city Smooth Touch Hair and Homecoming Mall Takeover tour. Nearly 800 people at the Galleria checked out head-turning hair styles created by Luster’s International Design Team, including Technical Director Kevin Pendleton and Artistic Director Arlisha Sims, who offered complimentary hair care tips to attendees at Smooth Touch Beauty Stations. Celebrity makeup artist Danessa Myricks provided free mini-makeovers and advice to young divas on how they can complete their own looks.
And with Homecoming season in full swing, the Smooth Touch Hair and Homecoming Mall Takeover gave women in the Houston area a preview of the season’s hottest hair styles and fashion trends. Luckett herself made a special guest appearance during the afternoon’s runway fashion show, which featured looks from Luckett’s Lady L Boutique, which she co-owns with her mother Pam Luckett.
“We definitely wrapped up the Smooth Touch Hair and Homecoming Mall Takeover with a bang in LeToya’s hometown of Houston,” said Theresa Stevenson, brand manager for Smooth Touch. “Women at the Galleria learned how to create beautiful hairstyles that attract attention using Smooth Touch new growth relaxer kits and styling products, regardless of their hair type. And since clothing and makeup bring a look together, we incorporated those elements into the Mall Takeover—and the models rocked styles from LeToya’s own boutique.”
Raffled during the Hair and Homecoming Mall Takeover were LeToya Luckett music CDs, “Walking Art” stilettos designed by Philip Loving and sold exclusively at Lady L Boutique, and Smooth Touch apparel. Attendees also picked up the “Smooth Touch Homecoming Survival Kit,” a gift bag featuring Smooth Touch hair care product samples and products from Kiss Cosmetics.

About LeToya Luckett
Part of the global groundswell known as Destiny’s Child, LeToya counts two Grammy Awards and co-writing credits to the group’s smashes “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Say My Name” as milestones in her rearview mirror. But her solo efforts have been no less successful. Riding the smash single “Torn,” which topped BET’s 106 & Park countdown for 25 straight days, her self-titled album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. From there the album cruised to platinum status. LeToya’s 2nd solo album, Lady Love, includes the smash hits released on “Regret,” featuring Ludacris and “She Ain’t Got.”
