- Mayor Gilbert gives his first address -

(BLACK PR WIRE) – The Honorable Oliver Gilbert, Mayor of the City of Miami Gardens, will deliver his first address during the State of the City, an event that is part of the City’s 10th Anniversary Celebration. The event will be held on Monday, May 13, 2013 beginning at 6 p.m. at Florida Memorial University, Lou Rawls Performing Arts Center. The Mayor will address the current state of the City of Miami Gardens and share his plans for future growth. The overarching theme for the 10th Anniversary is “Cultivating Possibilities.”

“This is an exciting time for the community, businesses and residents of the City of Miami Gardens,” expresses Mayor Gilbert. There is much underway and in my address I will highlight key accomplishments of our past and present; and will paint the picture of cultivating possibilities for our future.”

Mayor Gilbert is a lifelong resident of the City of Miami Gardens. Mr. Gilbert was sworn in as Mayor in August 2012, making him the second person to hold this prestigious position. A limited live broadcast of the Mayor’s address will broadcast on WEDR-99Jamz, with the full broadcast scheduled for later in the month.

The City’s 10th Anniversary is a major milestone. From the grand opening of its new city hall, to an appreciation event for City employees, to the Mayor’s Ball, the City has great plans in celebration of its ten years of cultivating possibilities.

Miami Gardens is the third largest city in Miami-Dade County. Construction of its new city hall is currently underway. From restaurants, shopping, and concerts to parks, recreation, and sports, the City of Miami Gardens offers something for everyone. The City is home to Calder Race Course and Sun Life Stadium - home of the Miami Dolphins and University of Miami football teams, and two world-class universities – Florida Memorial University and St. Thomas University.
