(BPRW) City of Miami Gardens "Powerful Women" Join WMBM Radio Host to Inspire Females to Implement Cutting-Edge Policy and Careers

(BLACK PR WIRE) – City of Miami Gardens, FL -- Inspiring women to pursue career goals and dreams will be just one topic of discussion as two City of Miami Gardens key female policy decision-makers join South Florida’s WMBM 1490 AM and radio host Debra Toomer for the Ladies' Day segment, a live broadcast, Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. on WMBM 1490 AM. City Attorney Sonja Dickens and Building Code Planning and Zoning Director Shellie Ransom-Jackson will share behind-the-scenes accounts of how they have faced challenges and obstacles to become “Powerful Women in the City.”

Recently featured in the Miami Gardens Community Newspaper, both City of Miami Gardens leaders credit much of their professional and personal success to identifying and outlining clear goals for themselves. Indicative of many working women, the City of Miami Gardens professionals regularly and successfully juggle the high-level demands of full-time careers with the more personal needs of their families.

In a field with few women, Shellie Ransom-Jackson is even more unique in her role with the City. She is the first and only African-American female building official in the State of Florida. She currently oversees the construction of the new LEED Platinum City Hall/Police Complex slated for completion in the coming months.

“What motives me?” asks Ransom-Jackson of her work with the City. “Serving the public, my family and my community.”

“We are still a young city but progressive and moving forward with world-class programs and initiatives,” says City Manager Dr. Danny Crew. “To have key staff who are leaders in their fields and dedicated members of community simply makes us stronger.”
