(BLACK PR WIRE) – November 12, 2013 – Lansdowne, Va. – Horizon Consulting Incorporated announced that its President and CEO, Wanda Alexis Alexander has received two designations from the University of Maryland. Alexander has been named the President Elect of the Board of Governors for the University of Maryland’s Alumni Association and is the recipient of the 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Undergraduate Studies of University of Maryland, College Park.

Annually, the University honors various alumni who continually serve the University, local communities and the world abroad. Specific colleges within the University recognize alumni who have achieved recognition for excellence in their respective professions.

The Alumni Association held its annual awards gala on Friday, October 25th, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. The black tie affair took place at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center on the campus of University of Maryland College Park and was attended by more than 500 guests.

“It is my desire to give back to the University that poured so much into me and pulled so much out of me at the same time,” states Alexander. “It is truly an honor to be on the receiving end of both of these designations [President Elect and Distinguished Alumni] and I look forward to continuing to serve my Alma mater,” she concludes.

As of July 2013, Alexander began her position as President Elect of the University of Maryland’s Alumni Association Board of Governors, whose purpose is to evaluate the mission, strategic direction and future programming of the Alumni Association. She was first elected to the Board in 2009; as President Elect Wanda will serve two consecutive, two-year terms and move on to the Board of Trustees in 2017.
