- Project SIAIMESE: Supporting Intensive Applications of Interventions by Minority Educators of Special Education -

(BLACK PR WIRE) – Florida Memorial University’s School of Education is pleased to announce an Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) grant award in the amount of $1.25 million over a five year period to improve the education of K-12 students with disabilities.

Project SIAIMESE will prepare 40 urban minority scholars to obtain a Masters in Special Education with an Endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorders. Scholars will receive preparation to implement data-based individualization (DBI) to provide support of students with persistent and severe learning and behavioral problems that need the most intensive individualized supports. Outcomes include 40 minority scholars: (1) developing, delivering, and evaluating research-based intensive interventions to support student learning and behavior for culturally and linguistically diverse students; (2) conducting and reporting action research to demonstrate the effects of implementing DBI; and (3) providing professional development in implementing, evaluating, and reporting data-driven individualized interventions to improve student outcomes.
