(BPRW) National Black Public Relations Society Honors PR Excellence on Friday at Its Annual Convention in Fort Lauderdale

(BLACK PR WIRE) – LOS ANGELES, November 5, 2014 – The National Black Public Relations Society (NBPRS) honors PR excellence as a part of the 2014 NBPRS Conference and Career Fair, which convenes Nov. 6 - 8 at the Sonesta Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

“With the theme, “PowerPR: Equip! Adapt! Conquer!,” this year’s conference draws PR practitioners from around the country for professional development training, networking opportunities and celebrating success stories,” said NBPRS President Richelle Payne. “The luncheon is a time to celebrate the vision of our founders and honor our 16 years as an organization.”

On Friday, Nov. 7, Founders Business Luncheon honorees include:

• The Pat Tobin Lifetime Achievement Award: Bernadette Morris, Black PR Wire Inc.

• Mover & Shaker Award: Donna Renella, ABW Solutions

• Ofield Dukes Educators Award: Dr. Clarke Caywood, Northwestern University

• Chapter of the Year: South Florida, Matthew Beatty, President

The conference features a host of dynamic speakers who will provide participants tips on strategy and hands-on tactics to become more successful public relations professionals. A pre-conference session on speed networking, sponsored by Coca-Cola, that’s free and open to the public will feature presentations by Wynona Redmond, Wyn-Win Communications; Stephanie Bromfield, Stephanie Bromfield & Associates; Trenae Floyd, Von Enterprises International; Suzan McDowell, Circle of One Marketing, Inc. and Jerry Thomas, Jerry Thomas Public Relations. 

Another session will feature a discussion on insights from major brands, including Deisha Barnett, Walmart; Michael Bolden, John S. & James L. Knight Foundation; Jason Jenkins, Miami Dolphins and Shawn Turner, Disney. Dr. Phillip M. Randall, managing partner, The Thorndyke Group, is offering a master class, “The Key to the C-Suite: How to Get to & Stay at the Top.” In a series of TEDTalk-like seminars, the PowerPR Talks offer expert advice on such topics as job interviews, career consciousness, succeeding the first 90 days of a new job and managing your personal brand. C. Denise Hendricks, a veteran broadcast executive, will deliver an inspiring keynote to close out the conference on Saturday.
