(BPRW) Black PR Wire's September Power Profiler - Dr. A. Zachary Faison

(Black PR Wire) A native of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Zachary Faison is a higher education executive administrator, attorney and the 30th President and CEO of Edward Waters College (now Edward Waters University) in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Faison holds the title of the youngest serving president and CEO of a historically Black college or university (HBCU). He was 37 years old when he was appointed in 2018 following a unanimous vote by the college's board of trustees. 

This prolific higher educator leader graduated magna cum laude from Albany State University (ASU) with a Bachelor of Arts in English, where he was an ASU Presidential/Foundation Scholar, ASU Velma Fudge Grant University Honors Program Graduate, ASU National Merit Scholar Graduate, an inductee of the Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society and upon graduation, was awarded for being the highest-ranking student in the University's Department of English & Modern Languages. Dr. Faison attended the University of Georgia School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate and was a member of the UGA School of Law Executive Moot Court Board and UGA Law Moot Court team. He completed his post-doctoral study at Harvard University Graduate School of Education’s Institute for Educational Management. He was a Millennium Leadership Initiative (MLI) Institute Fellow of the American Association of State Colleges & Universities (AASCU) & Association of Public Land-Grant Universities (APLU).

Dr. Faison is an active member of various local and national civic, professional, and community organizations, such as the JEA Board of Directors (the eighth largest publicly owned electric utility in the United States and the largest in Florida). He also serves as a trustee member of the Jacksonville Chamber, and is a member of the Jacksonville Civic Council, Leadership Jacksonville, and the Rotary Club of Jacksonville. He was recently named an institutional director of the UNCF Board of Directors.

This trailblazer has received several regional and national recognitions for his outstanding leadership and achievements, including being named by the Jacksonville Business Journal as a 2021 Ultimate CEO and by the Jacksonville Record & Observer as one of Jacksonville's Six Top Newsmakers of 2020.
