(Black PR Wire) Miami, Fla. -- As an expression of appreciation and gratitude for their long-standing service in the community, the Carrie Meek Foundation (CMF) provided a $500 contribution to the Progressive Firefighters Association Charities, Inc., recently.
“We are thankful for the efforts and services of this organization,” said Tony Crapp, Sr., Executive Director of The Carrie Meek Foundation, Inc. “They are a great community organization and provide numerous services throughout our communities, and we are delighted to support them.”
The Progressive Firefighters Association (PFA) of Miami-Dade County was organized in 1978 for the specific purpose of empowering its members to positively impact fire and rescue services in our communities in the areas of career development, fire prevention and safety, and community service. The PFA set forth as its main purpose and goal to study and provide viable solutions to serious problems and issues affecting its membership. The PFA addresses the subject of recruitment, and the retention and promotion of qualified African-American firefighters within the fire service. The numerous problems affecting our community such as health concerns, social, economic and political issues are also a part of the PFA’s agenda. PFA also provides various community programs and initiatives including scholarships, conducting blood pressure screenings, Thanksgiving baskets, Toys for Tots, and Learn to Swim programs.
