(BPRW) IMG Artists Welcomes Baritone Darren Drone to our Roster for General Management

(Black PR Wire) IMG Artists is delighted to welcome baritone Darren Drone to our roster for general management. Drone will be managed by Senior Artist Manager Devere Burnett.

With his commanding stage presence and rich, expressive voice, Drone brings gravitas and vocal authority to a wide range of repertoire – from the great dramatic roles of Verdi to the complex characters of contemporary opera. This season, he returns to The Metropolitan Opera for Porgy & Bess (Undertaker) and Carmen (Moralès cover). He also returns to Seattle Opera for Carmen (Zuniga) and is seen in recital with the Sag Harbor Song Festival. Next season, he makes exciting debuts in both La bohème and Porgy & Bess.

In the 2024/25 season, he appeared as Amonasro in Dayton Opera’s Aida, the title role in Falstaff at Portland Opera, and covered the title role in Rigoletto with the Santa Fe Opera. Other engagements included Pagliacci (Tonio) with Utah Opera, Jubilee (Edmund Watkins) at Seattle Opera, Cendrillon (Pandolfe) with Orlando Opera, and Amahl and the Night Visitors (Melchior) with Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle.

Drone is a natural fit for the signature roles of Falstaff, Gianni Schicchi, Rigoletto, Amonasro, and Germont. His performance as the title character in Verdi’s Falstaff with Opera San José showcased his ability to balance boisterous humor with vocal finesse, while his turn as Gianni Schicchi with Michigan Opera Theater was praised for its energy and theatrical flair. With his comedic instincts and resonant, agile baritone, he remains a sought-after interpreter of the great Italian baritone repertoire.

A passionate advocate for new works, Drone has participated in numerous workshops and world premieres that push the boundaries of contemporary opera, including his contributions to the development of Nmon Ford’s House of Orfeus with Cincinnati Opera. His commitment to expanding the operatic repertoire is matched by his dedication to the canon’s timeless masterpieces, making him a well-rounded and dynamic artist.
