LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- On Saturday, April 3, 2021, the national non-profit Social Change and AIDS Healthcare Foundation, through its Black Leadership AIDS Crisis Coalition (BLACC), will bring together a diverse array of grassroots community organizations to bring the spirit of Easter to the City of Compton. Scheduled from 12 noon – 3 pm at Calvary Baptist Church located at 1517 E. Alondra Blvd, Compton, CA, the coalition of civic, religious and cultural leaders will be providing free food, PPE and other critical items to individuals and families in need.

Saturday’s event is being organized by the Los Angeles Chapter of Social Change, through support from AHF and BLACC.

WHAT: Community Food Drive providing FREE Food and PPE to food insecure individuals and families to culminate Black History Month.

Note: Organizers will distribute over 15,000 pounds of fresh groceries and thousands of masks to all who walk or drive-up; and FREE HIV testing will be available.

WHY: According to Feed America, African American households face hunger at a rate more than twice that of white, non-Hispanic households. And getting enough to eat is a consistent struggle for 1 in 4 African American children. According to the California Association of Food Banks, on average, 1 out of every 4 Californians does not know where their next meal will come from, with greater levels of hunger experienced by Black and Latinx families with children.
