(BPRW) Sierra DeMulder Joins Jason Taylor Foundation As Director of Omari Hardwick bluapple Poetry Programs

(Black PR Wire) WESTON, Fla. - The Jason Taylor Foundation announced today that Sierra DeMulder has been named as Director of the non-profit organization’s Omari Hardwick bluapple Poetry Programs.  Founded in 2004 by Miami Dolphins legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer, Jason Taylor, the Foundation supports and creates programs that facilitate the personal growth and empowerment of South Florida’s children in need by focusing on improved health care, education and quality of life.

The bluapple Poetry Network is a multifaceted, after-school spoken word poetry program available free to students actively attending South Florida schools. The program was created by the Jason Taylor Foundation and actor and poet, Omari Hardwick. As Director, DeMulder will oversee all of the Foundation’s bluapple Poetry programming, develop and implement curriculum, manage all bluapple personnel, train teaching artists as well as in-school teaching partners, and coordinate the Louder Than A Bomb Florida poetry festival.

DeMulder, an internationally touring performance poet, educator and author, is a two-time National Poetry Slam champion whose work has been featured by NPR, Huffington Post, Nike, To Write Love on Her Arms, The Advocate, and more. In addition to performing, DeMulder is the curriculum director of the Slam Camp at Indiana University, an annual writing summer camp for high school students, and one of the founders of Button Poetry, the largest digital distributor of spoken word in the world.

“We’re excited to add Sierra to our team,” said Jason Taylor. “She is an important voice in the poetry community, and as our bluapple programs continue to expand, we know that her experience and expertise will help the young poets we work with reach their full potential as writers, artists and difference makers.”

“I'm honored to begin this next chapter,” said DeMulder. “I am incredibly passionate about the power of spoken word, particularly in the classroom, and look forward to uplifting and serving the voices of young people across southern Florida.”
