(BPRW) Teacher Sign-Ups Now Open for Khan Academy’s Free Back-to-School Program LearnStorm

Program helps teachers and students to get motivated for the return to the classroom and to rekindle the joy of learning

(Black PR Wire) Mountain View, CA -- Teacher registration is now open for Khan Academy’s LearnStorm — a FREE motivational, community-building program that empowers teachers and their students to develop the skills and learning mindsets needed for a successful, reconnected school year- all while having fun and earning prizes!

For six weeks, beginning August 9, 2021 and running through November 21, 2021, Khan Academy’s LearnStorm will help teachers rekindle the joy of learning among their kids. The LearnStorm program is designed to help teachers use standards-aligned Khan Academy content to supplement their instruction, and encourage growth mindset and resiliency skills for students in grades 3-12. Teachers can enroll quickly and easily in LearnStorm using their free Khan Academy account, or by creating one at www.khanacademy.org.

How LearnStorm Works

The program starts with teachers assigning practice in their subject and growth mindset activities on Khan Academy. LearnStorm then routes students to the personalized activities based on their progress. For each activity, there are interactive lessons that incorporate interactive graphs and/or visual aid such as a short video clip. Then the content prompts students to complete answers on-screen and set small, incremental goals. It ends with a weekly class reflection that allows students to see a visual representation of their progress that earns the class prizes. At the end of the course, students earn certificates.

“The idea behind LearnStorm is to get students and teachers excited about learning again. This fall, the transition back into the classroom is a critical time to find ways to bring back the joy of learning,” says Kristen DiCerbo, Chief Learning Officer, Khan Academy.  “Teachers who actively work with their students to set learning goals and track progress can help to foster a growth mindset. We’re excited to provide teachers a fun and interactive way to boost learning confidence and  help students reach their full potential.”

Last year, LearnStorm reached nearly 1.4 million students and more than 25,000 teachers in the US, with schools in all 50 states participating. Approximately 85% of teachers surveyed said they plan to use LearnStorm again this year. And 95% of students surveyed said they would continue using Khan Academy after LearnStorm.
