1863 Ventures Deepens Support of PuffCuff’s Continued Growth in Hair Care & Beauty Sectors
(Black PR Wire) ATLANTA – PuffCuff, an emerging global leader in beauty and hair care, today announced a new partnership with 1863 Ventures, giving the company access to $300,000 in funding as part of a push to support “New Majority” entrepreneurs across the United States. 1863 Ventures, based in Washington D.C., is recognized as the leading national business development non-profit for New Majority Entrepreneurs – individuals who have been historically marginalized.
“At PuffCuff, self-love and self-acceptance are our guiding principles,” said PuffCuff Founder and Inventor Ceata Lash. “We aim to positively impact and influence the beauty and hair care industries through developing products for curly- and natural-haired customers who are often overlooked by mainstream companies. It’s great to have additional partners on this journey, and we are grateful for the investment, mentorship and support of 1863 Ventures and its wonderful team.”
Founded in 2013, The PuffCuff is a simple, no-nonsense, no-headache alternative to elastic bands that puts an end to tension and hair breakage. The triple-patented design works with the fullness of curls instead of restraining them, resulting in a "barely there" feeling that reduces hair loss and damage caused by tight, cinching tension. Since its founding, The PuffCuff brand has grown to include several hair products and tools to solve the needs of target customers in a variety of new markets.
“1863 Ventures is proud to support PuffCuff as an emerging, high-growth company. The beauty industry has historically fallen short in offering Black and Brown customers haircare products that promote hair health and consider the intricacies of thick, curly, and tight-textured hair,” said Melissa Bradley, Founder and Managing Partner, 1863 Ventures. “Ceata Lash’s ingenuity of the PuffCuff is a testament to the innovation teeming among New Majority entrepreneurs. She is the first African American woman to own three patents for a natural hair tool, and the simplicity of her product provides an accessible haircare solution for all women of color.”
1863 Ventures was founded to help 500 Black entrepreneurial minded residents East of the River in Washington, D.C., start businesses and create jobs for their community. Now, with a mission to create $100 billion in new wealth by 2030 through both its non-profit programming and venture fund, 1863 Ventures aims to change the narrative for New Majority founders. 1863 Ventures’ entrepreneur membership represents nearly $300 million+ in revenues and more than 3,500 jobs created.
In 2020, PuffCuff welcomed hundreds of equity investors as part of a crowdsourcing campaign with Republic.co, resulting in more than $170,000. For more information about The PuffCuff and how you can support its further growth, visit thepuffcuff.com.
Founded in Romeoville, IL, in 2013, PuffCuff LLC holds three patents for hair care products, including its signature PuffCuff Hair Clamp which is manufactured in the U.S.A. The PuffCuff makes it easy to achieve stylish looks without stressing curly hair or causing pain from pulling and tension. This tool not only puts a stop to tension headaches and curl breakage, but is a sanitary, durable and affordable replacement to hair-damaging elastic bands for its diverse mix of curly-haired consumers.
