A passing glance at the extensive and varied list of organizations that Robert G. Beatty, Esq. is affiliated with in his south Florida community is enough for anyone to see why he is this month's Power Profiler.

Beatty currently serves as General Counsel, Vice President of Public Affairs and Member of the Editorial Board at the Miami Herald Publishing Company, the leading newspaper publisher in Miami-Dade County. His legal background is impressive and sets the standard for others in the legal profession. From his beginnings as a legal clerk in the Judge Advocate Office of the Air Force Reserve, to his work as division chief and felony court prosecutor in the Office of the State Attorney for Miami-Dade County, to his position as General Counsel for Bellsouth Telecommunications, Beatty's commitment to excellence and professional ethics has served as an example in the south Florida legal community.

He is also a distinguished member of numerous community organizations and committees. He serves as Chairman of the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, The Florida Grand Opera and the Board of trustees of Stetson University. He recently completed a three year term as a member and chairman of the Governor's Financial Emergency Oversight Board for the City of Miami. In addition, Beatty has been the recipient of many awards and recognitions for outstanding public service.

Beatty earned his bachelor's degree, with distinction, from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from Boston College law School. He is a member of the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, Miami-Dade County Bar Association, and the Black Lawyers Association.
