Tangi Miller, A Star on the Rise!
If you didn't get to catch actress Tangi Miller's appearances in "Felicity," "Phantom Force" or "Madea's Family Reunion," expect to see much more of her in the future. Miller is an up-and-coming star, soon to be as recognized for her film writing and producing as for her acting.
Miller was born and raised in Miami, Florida, the eldest of six children. Although television was prohibited in her home, she was able to act in stage productions as a high school student. As a college student at Alabama State University, she studied marketing while doing theater acting on the side. After graduation, she decided to go all the way in turning her acting habit into a vocation. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of California, Irvine, and studied acting at the Royal National Theater in London and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.
In 1998, Miller caught her television breakthrough on the HBO original series "Arli$$" where she appeared on an episode. That same year, she appeared in the independent film "Rhinos," her first theatrical film role. She was also cast as a regular character in the WB series "Felicity," playing Elena Tyler. In the following years, she took roles in the television movies "Playing with Fire," "Too Legit: The MC Hammer Story," and series guest roles on "The Shield" and "The District."
Miller's work has earned her awards and nominations from all corners of society. In 2002, she received a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Award Nomination for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series for her "Felicity" role. The NAACP also nominated her for the 2005 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress for her role in the television movie "Phantom Force." TV Guide named her one of the sexiest stars on television and Ebony called her one of the "most beautiful people of the millennium."
Stretching her talents into new territory, Miller debuted as a producer in the 2006 film "Hurricane in the Rose Garden," and as a writer and executive producer in 2007's "Love... & Other 4 Letter Words". Outside of the film industry, Miller enjoys African dancing, having performed in several African nations as a member of a Los Angeles dance troupe. With so many creative talents, Tangi Miller is poised to be a great success as her own person and as an inspiration to young people seeking to enter the film industry.
