Black PR Wire Power Profiler on Aylwin Lewis
Black PR Wire would like to recognize Aylwin Lewis as December's Power Profiler. Mr. Lewis was recently appointed as the first African American President and Chief Executive Officer of Kmart Holding Corporation. Kmart Holding Corporation is one of the largest merchandising corporations in the country and provides customers with popular brands such as Martha Stewart Everyday, Joe Boxer, Route 66 and many more.
Mr. Lewis has worked in the restaurant retail industry for about 26 years. As soon as he graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in Business Management and English Literature, he hit the ground running. His first job was as Texas district manager for Jack Box restaurant which is owned by Foodmaker Inc. In 1996, Mr. Lewis worked for Tricon Global Restaurants Inc., where he was the chief operating officer of Pizza Hut. After moving through the ranks at Tricon, Lewis was appointed as the Executive Vice President of Operations and New Business Development. Shortly after Tricon acquired major food chains such as Long John Silver and A&W All-American Restaurants, the company name was changed to YUM! Brands. By acquiring these two brands, YUM! began a new concept in the restaurant retail industry called "multi-branding". The main goal of multi-branding was to bring two brands and place them under one roof.
In January of 2003, Mr. Lewis was promoted as president of chief multi-branding and operating officer of YUM! Brands. Many officials were assigned to report to Mr. Lewis such as the president of Long John Silver's and A&W All-American Restaurants, and the chief operating officers of KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.
Black PR Wire would like to congratulate Mr. Aylwin Lewis on becoming president/CEO of Kmart Holding Corporation. We look forward to seeing great things from him in the future.
