Black PR Wire Power Profiler on Les & Ona Brown

Les & Ona Brown

The Brown's are a cultural phenomenon.  Whether speaking to a group of high school students or corporate executives, Les Brown and his daughter Ona have the same effect on either audience-- complete and utter awe.  As the first family of motivation, their ultimate goal is to instill and facilitate the idea of greatness.  According to the Brown's, everyone has the means within themselves to achieve it.

Highly recognized as a motivational speaker and author, it seems that there is no goal impossible for Les Brown to reach. Born in Liberty City, Florida, Les and twin brother Wes were abandoned at six weeks old.   Luckily, Mrs. Mamie Brown, a single woman who had very little education or financial means, but was rich at heart adopted them.

As a child, Les was prone to restlessness and boredom.  Because of this personality trait, teachers mislabeled him "educable mentally retarded" (EMR) in the fifth grade. "I was held back from school, but my mother refused to let me be held back from life," says Les.  Although this label as a slow learner stayed with him and damaged his self-esteem for several years, his persistence and determination for self-improvement enabled him to rise above such a negative stigma.

Furthermore, he remembers his teacher and mentor, Leroy Washington telling him, "Someone's opinion of you does not have to become your reality." Washington also told him to "develop your mind and communication skills because once you open your mouth you tell the world who you are."  These powerful words from his mentor and encouragement from his mother greatly influenced Les and the way in which he lived his life.

In the meantime, Les has developed a sense of urgency in his path to realize greatness and personal success.  He has also instilled those disciplines in his seven children by teaching them the art of effective motivation.  "You must be willing to do things today in order to have things tomorrow," says Les.

Ona Brown, one of Les' daughters, has definitely studied and grasped her father's principles.  Growing up in Lexington, Kentucky, Ona wanted to become a fashion designer. However, she did not realize that fate had other plans for her. On the way to a fashion show, she tripped over a homeless person and it wasn't until their eyes met that she realized her true calling -to help touch and impact the lives of others.

Since that time, Ona has become a life coach and author and is committed to teaching people how to fall in love with their lives by learning to engage in positive self-affirming thought. "I come from good genes and I'm cut from good cloth," says Ona.  She believes that her father has inspired her to constantly look beyond what is currently seen, "My father is a living demonstration that circumstances, situations and problems don't have to dictate your reality," she adds.

Answering the call of your life is Ona's definition for success.  Les adds, "Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."  Using their mottos for success, both Les and Ona continue to use their power and platform to make a positive difference with the youth, corporate executives and families!

Les and Ona Brown are incredible people with incredible passion.  They have taken the love of communication and have used it as a progressive vehicle for promoting confidence and encouragement while making a significant difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people nationwide.  Thank you, Les for being so down to earth and Ona for your beautiful spirit!
