Black PR Wire Power Profiler on Mr. Bill Diggs
Black PR Wire would like to recognize Mr. Bill Diggs as January's power profiler. Mr. Diggs is currently the president and CEO of the Miami Dade Chamber of Commerce. Founded in 1974, the Miami- Dade Chamber of Commerce brings the business community together to promote successful interaction to all businesses involved.
Before Mr. Diggs was appointed president and CEO of the Miami Dade Chamber of Commerce, he worked as Vice President of sales at JLM Risk Management Company. JLM is a commercial property and casual insurance firm based in Atlanta, Georgia. Their customer base includes various entertainment, fast food and beverage companies. Mr. Diggs is responsible for growing JLM's Florida business presence. In doing so, he focused on the medium to large business sectors. He also assisted African American businesses in properly leveraging the various facets of insurance so that they may retain more of their capital. Before working for JLM, Mr. Diggs worked for MCI Telecommunications, where he was recognized for launching what was considered as the most successful competitive local service campaign in the company's history.
Along with being president CEO of the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Diggs has also contributed to the city of Miami, Florida in many other ways. Mr. Diggs is involved with many professional, civic and community-based organizations. He has been a trustee for the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce where he served as co-chair of the education committee; he was a member of the board of directors for the Fort Lauderdale Urban League and the Miamibased New World School of the Arts. He presently is on the board of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, Florida and James E. Scott Community Association. He is also a member of the executive board of directors for the Florida Memorial College Foundation. Mr. Diggs is also very successful in the leadership positions that he has held with different organizations. As the founding member and past president of the 100 Black Men of South Florida, he is responsible for helping to chart the success of its largest charity based event, Zo's Summer Groove. This event has risen over $4 million for the children of south Florida. Mr. Diggs' proudest civic accomplishments come from the 100's nationally recognized Leadership Academy, which he began. The Academy is a fully engrossed mentorship program that has taken kids from failing elementary grades to college scholarship recipients to schools such as Florida A&M University, Bethune Cookman College and the University of Virginia.
Mr. Diggs received his Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Clark Atlanta University. His hobbies include golfing and indulging in jazz music. He is married to Thomasina (his wife of 20 years) and together they have two children, Drew and Dominique.
