Black PR Wire Power Profiler on TOSHA WHITTEN-GRIGGS
Lights, Camera, Action! These words have great meaning for Tosha Whitten-Griggs, one of the key black women behind the scenes at Black Entertainment Television (BET). With more than ten years of public relations experience in the entertainment, technology and consumer industries, Whitten-Griggs now serves as BET's director of corporate communications. She is responsible for the public relations strategies for the entertainment and special programming at BET, which includes the BET Awards, Walk of Fame and Celebration of Gospel gala events. Her responsibilities also include the communications coordination of BET's regularly scheduled programming, such as "Comic View", "College Hill" and "How I'm Living." Whitten-Griggs has been with BET for the past four years, serving as their director of corporate communications for BET Interactive, where she managed the communications strategies for BET.com and 360hiphop.com.
Before joining BET in 2001, Tosha Whitten-Griggs worked at Alexander Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide as a senior account executive, where she was responsible for the strategic public relations campaigns for accounts such as ComputerJobs.com, Total E, AutoTrader.com, and Manheim Online. Her public relations experience also includes working as an account executive for Shandwick International where she supervised major projects for technology companies such as Compaq Computer Corporation and Microsoft. Whitten-Griggs has also worked to produce media coverage for various major label recording artists, including national projects for talents on EMI Records, LaFace/Arista and Interscope Records.
A 1989 graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, she currently serves as an executive board member of the National Black Public Relations Society.
