Black PR Wire Power Profiler on Carolyn L. Williams
Carolyn L. Williams is committed to continuing the legacy of her late-great husband, Gerald A. Williams. As founder and chairwoman of The Gerald A. Williams Esq. Legacy Foundation, she is doing just that.
The Foundation is gearing up for its Second Annual Charity Open, set for Saturday, October 19, 2013 at The President Country Club, 2300 Presidential Way, in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Foundation is a Florida not-for-profit corporation and a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. Tax-deductible contributions to the Charity Open help fund scholarships for Florida high school and college students.
“My late husband left a legacy of service to family, education, law and the community. His life-long work spanned more than 30 years in the areas of labor and employment law and public education, where he served as general counsel to numerous school boards,” said Carolyn. “For distinguished leadership and contributions to the legal profession, government and education, he was posthumously honored by the Palm Beach County School Board with the naming of the Gerald A. Williams Esq. Law Academy, and by the University of Florida, Levin College of Law with his induction into the Heritage of Leadership Recognition Society. We have been humbled by these and other gracious acknowledgements of his service and work. Since its creation, the Foundation has honored this legacy through scholarship and grant programs.”
The Foundation was established in 2010 as a donor advised fund with the U.S. Charitable Gift Trust. Endowed memorial scholarships were created at the University of Florida, Levin College of Law in 2010, and the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties in 2011. In 2012, the Foundation hosted its first scholarship fundraiser, the Inaugural Charity Open.
In addition to the endowed scholarship funds, the Foundation, through the Trust, has awarded grants to support iPad technology integration in K-3 curriculum, and after school student enrichment and tutorials. In addition, Foundation grants have sponsored the participation of Florida law students, a state university professor and a UNESCO doctoral student from Africa in the Florida Earth Foundation/Dutch Consulate/UNESCO international research and exchange program on water policy and flood protection.
Those interested in making a donation to the Foundation will help aspiring students achieve their career goals and continue building positive legacies that strengthen our communities.
